6. Setting Out A Long-Term Plan

If WWE was being honest with themselves, they would have to admit that they have no long-term plans in place at the moment. Sure, they may someday hope that Roman Reigns will catch on and become the face of the company, and they may have Shane McMahon penciled in to take on Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, but virtually everything else seems to be planned out week-by-week.

In some cases, that works. When James Ellsworth came aboard, very few people would have imagined that he would catch on like he did. If something like that comes around, then go-with it as long as it makes money. But the overall seat-of-the-pants booking style WWE has adopted has lead to haphazard, inconsistent and plot hole filled television show.

One week Mick Foley is praising the women for being a part of Hell in a Cell. The next he’s screaming at them for how they don’t understand what they’re getting into. Stephanie McMahon tries to be a heel in one segment then a face the next. Charlotte was only scheduled to win the HIAC match the night before the event happened. Seth Rollins has already defeated Chris Jericho four times on TV within the past couple months, now they're unnecessarily fighting on an upcoming pay-per-view. Can we just have a plan in place and roughly stick to it?

At the State of the Union, Vince would tell us that due to the erosion of ratings that he does indeed have a plan in place of where he wants to take the top talent and the entire direction of the company. Of course things will change along the way, but he could assure us that good things are headed our way. Though that's not likely to happen...

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
