10 Things That Would Have Saved WCW In 2000

5. Simplifying 'New Blood vs. Millionaire's Club'

The storyline alluded to in the previous entry was of course the entire 'New Blood' and 'Millionaire's Club' fiasco. In April, both Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff were entrusted to push the reset button on World Championship Wrestling. Much like vacating titles however, this didn't address the problems that fans had with what was going on. People didn't want to forget what had happened before, they simply wanted improvements. Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit were tailor-made to be members of the 'New Blood'. The idea was - initially - very simple. A group of younger wrestlers would rise up to the challenge the status quo of names like Hulk Hogan, DDP, Kevin Nash and others who had dominated things for years. In theory, Billy Kidman working with Hogan - for example - would get the younger man more over. Things didn't really pan out that way, because the angle was convoluted and confusing. The aging stars seemed hesitant to properly put over their peers, making the whole exercise feel pretty defunct from the start. Kidman's count out victory over Hulk Hogan wasn't enough to enhance his reputation. There really should have been more care put into the biggest angle of the year.
