10 Things TNA Got Right

5. Importance Of Titles (At First)

Now before TNA added the usesless Legends/Global/Television Title and the even more useless Knockouts Tag Team Titles, they had it just right. Focusing on a three major titles for the first five years of business, along with a fourth one exclusively for women, TNA knew how to make their titles matter. The World Heavyweight title of course was the biggest prize in the company which all wrestlers aspired to win. That belt has at least endured over the last twelve years as the grandest achievement one can reach in TNA. The tag team titles have fallen over the years, but titles are only as over as the wrestlers that hold them. In that regard the TNA tag titles have had a very good decade overall, being traded by some of the very best tag teams in recent American wrestling history such as Team 3D, Beer Money, The Motor City Machine Guns and Bad Influence. The X-Division Title has become one of the most underused titles in recent memory, but before TNA added a second mid card title, the X Title was an accomplishment second only to the World Heavyweight Title. When the X-Division was TNA's priority, that belt truly meant something, and that's part of why the X stars were so over. Now the belt is only promoted when the champion trades it in for a heavyweight title shot, which alas is the only way it can mean something these days. Even the Knockouts Championship mattered, and not just because of the caliber of the women who fought over it. TNA didn't just create a title overnight, they waited until they had a sufficient number of female performers before launching their knockouts Division and when Gail Kim became the first Knockouts Champion, it felt like one of the greatest victories anyone had ever achieved.

As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG. I may have a problem! But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
