10 Things TNA Wants You To Forget About Abyss

10. Coming Up Short In Monster€™s Ball

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_rpRJLt48Y Abyss has always been €œthe Monster€ of TNA, usually the largest and most physically imposing wrestler on the show. He towers over most of his competitors, leading to memorable size dynamics with classic opponents like Sting, AJ Styles, and Christian Cage. TNA bills him at 6€™8€ and 350 pounds, and that€™s normally pretty believable, but on at least one occasion the promotion accidentally proved that the big man isn't quite as big as they claim. At Bound For Glory 2007, Abyss faced off against Raven, Samoa Joe, and Brother Runt, in a Monsters' Ball match. He was the tallest participant in the match, but not in the ring; special guest referee Jake "the Snake" Roberts, squarely in his pre-DDP sad hunched old man phase, is still a few inches taller than Abyss. Roberts' billed height? 6'6". Oddly enough, TNA DID actually change Samoa Joe's billed height when he left the X-Division for the heavyweight ranks, dropping from 6'8" to 6'2", and he looks jusssst a bit smaller than Abyss here. It's almost like all wrestlers are lying about their heights and weights, but that can't be; the athletic commissions would be all over that.
