10 Things TNA Wants You To Forget About Abyss

9. The Magic Ring https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnZcOVA6Sb0 TNA has seen fit to saddle Abyss with basically every cliched bad gimmick there is, so it's no surprise that they would eventually just start stringing them together. Abyss was stuck in a losing streak until he was given Hulk Hogan's WWE Hall of Fame Ring. Wearing this magically allowed him to access the "powers" of various wrestling legends, meaning that he countered the always productive "veteran on losing streak" gimmick with the definitely-not-ridiculous "imitating other guys" gimmick. Hulk was at his hyperbolic best, ranting and raving about how the ring would give Abyss the power of ten thousand Hogans and make him "the God of men." Apparently thrilled at the prospect of literal deification, Abyss made worrying Paul Bearer sounds the entire time. The payoff for all this was a match in which Hogan's ring was wagered against Ric Flair's, and yes, this means TNA promoted a match based on their wrestlers desperately fighting for WWE's props. Not that this would have been good had they used Sting's TNA Hall of Fame ring, but perhaps it wouldn't have broadcasted TNA's truly prodigious inferiority complex all over the world. Er, more than usual.
