10 Things TNA Wants You To Forget About Matt And Jeff Hardy

10. Jeff vs. A.J.

In April of 2003, Jeff Hardy was released from his WWE contract in part due to refusing to go to rehab. He was acting in a bizarre behavior, and continually showing up late, so the company had no other choice but to let him go. After an incredibly embarrassing match in ROH that saw him get booed by the crowd, Jeff made his TNA debut in June of 2004 at their second anniversary show. It didn’t go that much better.

A.J. Styles vs. Jeff Hardy was a dream match for a lot of fans, and Jeff was The Phenomenal One’s surprise opponent at Slammiversary. Mike Tenay and Don West sounded like they were about to lose their damn minds when the Charismatic Enigma walked out onto the stage. It seemed like a classic in the making, but it was a forgettable six minute match that was interrupted by Kid Kash and Dallas.

TNA could have delivered a huge buzz to bring fans into the product, but produced a bit of a dud debut.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
