10 Things Vince McMahon Has In Common With A Small Child
3. He Is Primarily Impressed By Feats Of Strength
Kids rely on their parents for protection. It's quite the ego boost; they think you are a demigod simply by virtue of having grown up.
Put them on your shoulders, and they think they have the best view of a world they don't yet know is irrevocably broken. Pretend to do the job when you sell for a high-five, and they think they are invincible. Carry them when they're knackered, and they'll feel as contended and secure as any living creature could. Parenting can be a gruelling and at times near-impossible challenge, but sometimes, it's as easy as getting Keith Lee over. All you have to do is let the great man be Keith Lee.
Vince McMahon couldn't get Keith Lee over, but the analogy still stands because he got everywhere else. Vince was just useless.
Vince also, like a child, is more impressed by large men executing primitive feats of strength than anything else. He built his entire empire on behemoths colliding slowly into one another because he was intoxicated by the concept of mass.
Before he was unable to do this - before the, erm, backstage culture changed and before stylistic trends shifted - he stretched his arms and did the pick-me-up gesture, desperate to stand on the shoulders of giants (Hillbilly Jim.)
