Global Force Wrestling: 10 Facts And Questions About Jeff Jarrett's New Promotion
8. They Have Major Funding
Before the announcement of GFW there were countless rumors swirling around the internet wrestling community that continually brought up the names of Jarrett, Toby Keith, and TNA. Some time later -- in late 2013 -- it was revealed that Toby Keith was in the running to purchase TNA Wrestling with Jeff Jarrett by his side. Reportedly, the deal fell through due to Bob Carters insistence that his daughter Dixie continue to have an on-air role within the company. As things are rocky, to say the least, between Dixie and Double J, the attempted purchase fell through and Jarrett subsequently resigned from TNA in December 2013. Shortly after the deal to acquire TNA collapsed, the former self-proclaimed "King of the Mountain" began teasing his new company. By the time the official announcement was made, many were speculating that Toby Keith would play a part in the reveal. However, that was not to be the case. Still, many fans and reporters went on to believe that Keith was playing some sort of role in the new company -- potentially as its key financial backer -- due to the short timetable of events beginning with his attempted acquisition of TNA and GFWs creation.
