Global Force Wrestling: 10 Facts And Questions About Jeff Jarrett's New Promotion
7. Who Is The Mystery Backer?
As discussed, all early indications pointed to the country music powerhouse, Toby Keith, as the moneyman behind the promotion. However, these rumors seem to have quieted down since. While no one has officially spoken on the matter -- neither Keith nor Jeff Jarrett -- the belief is that Toby is not involved with GFW in any capacity. This has left many bewildered, as people continue to theorize and speculate about who could be backing this project. Obviously, there needs to be a great resource of cash for a wrestling promotion to launch and maintain operations -- especially one that has the potential to be as large an entity as this one. With Toby Keith out of the equation, everyone has been left scratching their collective heads, but with so few pieces of information available, its proved nearly impossible to put together the puzzle. The rumor mill also recently spit out another name after Keith was dismissed as a possibility. NASCARs Hermie Sadler -- a friend and former business associate of Jarretts -- was named as a possible backer. It made sense, as Sadler -- along with the Hebner brothers -- used to run the United Wrestling Federation. For over a year, between 2005 and 2006, that promotion was branded as UWF-TNA -- enabling the then-upstart TNA to essentially run house shows in the Mid-Atlantic area. However, Sadlers name was also dismissed -- although new rumors seem to indicate that Jarrett met his financial benefactor through Hermie. There is, of course, the possibility that there is so little information about the backer because one simply does not exist. Lets face it, Jeff Jarrett is an intelligent man and has hopefully been smart about properly saving his income over the years. Theoretically, Jarrett could be financially supporting Global Force and its launch all on his own. And while it may not be the wisest decision to pour ones own money into such a risky venture, its not a completely inconceivable gamble.
