10 Things We Learned Attending AEW Dynasty 2025 Live
2. ‘Swerve’s Gonna Win’

Heading into the main event, the audience seemed resigned to the notion that Jon Moxley likely was going to leave Dynasty with the AEW World Championship intact, but they were trying to manifest a Swerve Strickland upset.
The match itself was a mixed bag, with Moxley’s ladder spot that ended with a Swerve Stomp through the announce desk generating confusion up until Strickland leapt. The bout plodded a lot, especially after the International Championship three-way.
Then AEW’s version of the Bloodline, circa-2023, took hold, with the Death Riders and Hangman Page getting involved. Fans were getting pretty uneasy until The Opps ran down to ringside to take out the Death Riders, and a delirious buzz made its way around the Liacouras Center: There was no one left. Swerve was finally going to end this interminable reign of Moxley.
And then the lights went out.
When the Young Bucks appeared, they got the requisite pop after being away for several months, but once it became apparent that they had cost Swerve the tile and that meant that Moxley very well is carrying the title to All In, the crowd turned on the Bucks and the outcome. The arena emptied out the instant the bell rang, with some fans loudly cursing the booking.
Some will say that this just builds the story, but the audience was ready to accept Strickland as their world champion and to end this nightmarish Moxley reign, but instead we’re probably getting three more months of world title in a briefcase.
Judging by fan reaction in Philadelphia, that was not a popular decision.
