10 Things We Learned Attending WWE WrestleMania 40 Live
7. You Better Bundle Up
If you ever wondered why WWE has promoted WrestleMania in Florida so often, you'll get your answer by attending WrestleMania in the northeastern United States. In Philadelphia, the temperature plummeted when the sun set.
This was expected - attending an outdoor April show in New Jersey will steel you ahead of the occasion - but you can never actually prepare for it. I wore four layers of clothing on my upper half and my knees were still clacking together through the shivering cold. When WrestleMania is hot, you forget about the cold. When the show is at its most bombastic or visually striking, you can no-sell it. You take leave of your senses and experience very real WrestleMania magic. When you're watching a wrestler do little in the spaces between moves, it's difficult to roar your support.
The atmosphere flattens as a result. WWE shouldn't alter the calendar nor deprive a state of the occasion, no matter how international the event has become, but be warned: the WrestleMania dream can feel like a first-world problem, a bit of a downer, even if you wrap up warm.
Be wary of the sheer drop, too: don't be fooled by how warm it might feel during the day. Even if you're sweaty and uncomfortable before you leave your accommodation, you'll regret not covering up.
