Tons of ex-WWE stars defiantly dismiss the place as somewhere they used to love. That's not Cole's thing. He freely admits that leaving WWE was one of the toughest decisions he's ever had to make - the company helped him fall in love with wrestling back during karate class, remember?

One sleepless evening changed everything.

Cole was laying awake at 1am one night. Britt was snoozing next to him, but he couldn't nod off. So, Adam closed his eyes and pictured what it'd be liked to debut in AEW. That one thought took him to a magical place, and he had that same "giddy nine-year old feeling" he'd had when he first stumbled upon wrestling as a kid.

The NXT man made up his mind then and there that he wanted to follow his gut feeling and join his friends in AEW. This meditative experience came totally out of the blue. He was weighing up the pros and cons of a WWE stay before closing his eyes.
