10 Things We Learned From AEW's Double Or Nothing Announcement Party

8. The Broadcasting Team Needs Work

Conrad Thompson is phenomenal at what he does. Phenomenal. A master podcaster, the brilliance of Something To Wrestle With Bruce Prichard is largely down to his ability to extract gems from the former Brother Love. He has become one of the most respected names in wrestling media on merit, and his AEW affiliation will only benefit both parties long-term.

Former NFL correspondent Alex Marvez brings real-sport credibility to this endeavour, and his proven himself a skilled broadcaster to boot. Excalibur, meanwhile, is the most underrated commentator in wrestling, and proved himself so much more than the loudmouth PWG banter merchant he's been typecast as by stealing the announce booth at ALL IN, where he was excellent.

These guys rule, but as a broadcast team, in their current form, they aren't hitting the mark.

This was a problem in the first rally too, with Thompson and Marvez lost in this presumably scripted world. Last night, the trio's faux shock at announcements they all knew were coming wasn't at all believable, and it's clear work needs to be done when it comes to how they prevent the product. Another one for the Jackson brothers' to-do list.
