10 Things We Learned From Bobby Lashley On Stone Cold’s Broken Skull Sessions Podcast

3. The Reality Behind The Hurt Business

Man, The Hurt Business was such a killer idea.

Lashley wanted to set the record straight about what the faction was supposed to represent though. He told Austin that it was never about skin colour - he and MVP weren't looking to make some statement about race. Nah, they just wanted to give overlooked workers a platform to show what they could do.

Another sneaky quirk was born from the restrictive dress codes Bobby had experienced during his first WWE run. He pitched that THB wear fancy suits and carry themselves like stars from the moment they step foot in buildings. Everyone loved that, including McMahon (no surprises there).

Lashley and MVP were very careful about how they pitched working together to Vince and Triple H. Neither referenced their prior angles in TNA, because they knew that'd work against them. They had to feed the illusion of originality, and make WWE think they had some ownership.
