4. Bobby Was The One Who Pitched A Heel Turn

Lashley got a respectable pop when he returned to WWE (following a successful stint in TNA and flurry in the MMA world) in 2018. The post-WrestleMania 34 crowd was happy to see him, and he knew he could ride those good graces for a little while. How long though? That was the question on his mind.

Bobby started to get antsy, so much so that he pitched a heel turn to Vinnie Mac. Oh yes, it was Lashley himself who fancied going rogue. Though Bob had been making plays for that switch since the early-summer, McMahon wouldn't pull the trigger until an 8 October beatdown on Kevin Owens.

WWE must've been glad they tried it, because Bobby was going nowhere as a babyface. Privately, he told Austin that knew he could make it work if Vince gave him the chance. Treading water as a midcard babyface didn't suit him, and he'd also floundered in a protracted rivalry with Sami Zayn.

The KO angle and an alliance with pint-sized irritant Lio Rush offered salvation. Lashley craved the heat.
