The pair hit it off immediately.

Austin told a sweet story that proves how much respect he has for Bret. One day, Hart rolled up to the building for that night's show with a flat tire on his rented Lincoln Town Car. That flat would have to wait, because Bret was running late and had to dart backstage to get ready for his main event match.

When Hart was in the ring taking bumps, Austin decided to go to work and pump up the flat tire. This humble show of deference towards a headliner was Steve's way of showing Bret that he appreciated his efforts on top of the cards. After hearing that tale (one he couldn't remember), Hart said, "What happened to those days?".

This isn't a side of Austin's personality that WWE explore often; he wanted to make sure that Bret could relax after his match and get back to the hotel safely without worrying about his rental. It was the ultimate show of recognition.
