By 1999, Bret had all but given up on doing his best.

He told Austin that WCW regularly brought him in on first class flights to sit in the locker room and do nothing on shows. It was a complete waste of time, and it's why Hart phoned in many of his performances. The fire he once kept lit for wrestling had been snuffed out within two short years.

That was distressing for Dustin Rhodes to learn. During the 'Broken Skull Sessions' interview, Bret remembered a backstage convo with Dustin shortly after Rhodes joined WCW in '99. Midway through, Dustin said he loved the business and couldn't wait to get out there perform for the fans. To his dismay, Hart fired back, "What's to love?".

Rhodes got teary-eyed and repeated that he would always love pro wrestling no matter what happened in his career. That poignant speech stuck with Bret for years, and it's something he still remembers fondly to this day. He'll never forget Dustin's passion.
