10 Things We Learned From Brock Lesnar's UFC 200 Victory

5. There Was Some Ring Rust

For Brock Lesnar, the ring rust definitely showed at UFC 200. That's not a bad thing, mind you. It's to be expected: no matter how hard you train, no matter how many rounds you spar, being away from the cage for years means when you do get back in there, you're going to need time to find your rhythm.

So if Lesnar had a few iffy moments - like trying to start a take down attempt from his knees - well then ring rust is likely to blame. In fact, it might even be a good sign: a rusty Brock Lesnar beat Mark Hunt. A Mark Hunt who was on a two fight win streak, having recently scored a walk-off knockout of former UFC heavyweight champ Frank Mir. A Mark Hunt who not that long ago was fighting for a belt in the UFC.

Which means that, if Lesnar decides to continue on with his fighting career and return to the UFC at some point, he should look even sharper. The ring rust will have worn off, and he'll be in top form, and without the health issues that plagued him towards the end of his first MMA run. That's a scary prospect for anyone calling the UFC heavyweight division home.
