One of the best stories Prichard told on his show was that McMahon encouraged talent to experiment and didn't mind some screw-ups if they added to the 'Raw' feel of his new Monday night project. Anything that would let viewers know Raw was live was OK by the Vin-man. That was a complete departure from his prior outlook.

For years, Vince McMahon had toiled to ensure the World Wrestling Federation was slick, organised and well-produced. Now, on a whim, he was telling staff it was fine to muck up from time-to-time. In fact, it'd help make Raw better if they did, because fans would be shocked by seeing things they didn't think they were supposed to.

Talent were reassured that they wouldn't get into trouble for throwing some extra spice into their promos and backstage segments were supposed to get away from the traditional interviews of before. That's why Gene Okerlund didn't conduct one single backstage promo on the first episode of Raw.
