10 Things We Learned From Bruce Prichard’s Randy Savage Podcast

1. The WWF Wanted 'Speaking From The Heart' As New Entrance Music

Think of Randy Savage and you'll likely hear the stirring strains of Pomp & Circumstance playing in your head soon afterwards. Composed by Sir Edward Elgar, the classical march has become synonymous with the Macho Man to wrestling fans, and it's pretty much impossible to imagine him walking to the ring accompanied by anything else.

When the (Simon Cowell produced) CD WrestleMania: The Album was released in 1993, the WWF tried something a little different. On the album, Savage raps a tune called 'Speaking From The Heart' and encourages fans to chant along as he sings, "Macho Man says dig it, dig it". This was supposed to be Randy's new entrance music.

The WWF even tried it out for a brief spell on house shows, only to be met with scathing negativity from fans who missed Pomp & Circumstance. Quietly, the track faded into the background and Savage went back to his orchestral roots. Why did they even try?
