Paige was Charlotte's catalyst for change.

Flair admitted to 'Stone Cold' that she looked up to the Brit. Paige was just starting to explode into view as the female scene's next big thing when Charlotte started getting serious about her WWE training. The "Anti-Diva" character Paige used also resonated with the newbie and made her realise that something different was coming.

Obviously, she couldn't predict just how different women's wrestling would look a few years afterwards, but Flair did keep a keen eye on absolutely everything Paige was doing - she studied the way her peer carried herself, as well as how she worked much more aggressively inside the ring than some of her contemporaries at the time.

It's amazing to think that Charlotte would eventually surpass Paige and have an even better career than her original company hero. Injuries played a major role in that, of course, but Flair's confidence skyrocketed over time too.
