You may have noticed the overuse of 'Y2J' in this article. It's deliberate, and it feeds into this final entry.

In 2019, Chris Jericho doesn't want to be called that any longer. It may have been fine when he was still tied to WWE, but he's an AEW employee now and feels Y2J is a dated "WWE concept" that's "so 20 years ago". Oh my. Don't hold back, Chris. To long-time fans, this'll take some getting used to.

Jericho believes his ring surname is a more powerful, relevant moniker these days. It's hard to argue against his point, though again, those who watched him romp onto Raw in 1999 might have trouble straying away from chants of "Y2J! Y2J!" for a few years. That nickname is so engrained into his act after decades of pushing it.

Plus, wrestling fans will do what they want. There's a renegade spirit about the grappling fandom these days (more so on the indy scene where individuality and choice are king), and Jericho's wishes might not change that overnight. Still, it is remarkable to know he's not fond of the Y2J name anymore.
