In 2016, David Benoit and his family were sent a script for a film called 'The Crippler.' The film was going to depict the life of Chris Benoit and according to David, it was set to end with the horrific double-murder suicide.

David stated that his family rejected the film and would not give the production company permission to make a movie about his father's traumatic crime. The film had a finished script and even a director attached to the project, and was scheduled to go into production in 2016 with the family's blessing. The Benoit family went as far as hiring a lawyer to make sure the film would never be made.

When asked about the possibility of a documentary being made about his father, David Benoit was surprisingly receptive. David went as far as to even admit that he had plenty of home videos that he could provide if such a film were to ever be made.

When asked if a movie depicting his father's final days could ever be made, David simply stated, "No. No movie."
