10 Things We Learned From CM Punk On Renée Paquette's Podcast
9. Punk Won’t Take Credit For Other’s Opportunities
The pitchforks would've been out for this statement, and Punk probably knew it - he said that there's a chance Daniel Bryan wouldn't have headlined WrestleMania XXX had he stuck around in WWE. Also, guys like Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn might not have come onto WWE's radar when they did.
Even so, Punk doesn't want to take credit for anyone else's success. He's only grateful that he was able to play a part in helping others get jobs, and he realises that Bryan is one of the most talented workers WWE has ever had. Punk looks at their opportunities as happy moments, not ones he should lap up praise for.
That's cool.
Renée kinda' hinted that Punk changed the entire wrestling biz by being hardheaded and forcing WWE's hand, but he wasn't really having any of it. To him, daily credit for shifting paradigms is unnecessary. He's just glad that good people got ahead.
