10 Things We Learned From CM Punk On Renée Paquette's Podcast

6. Why He Turned Vince McMahon’s Volume Down

Punk suffered a hip injury at Bragging Rights 2010 (following a suplex spot with Edge) that'd bench him for the next few months. At first, he dreaded surgery, but was delighted when a second MRI revealed he wouldn't have to go under the knife. 'Great', Punk thought. He'd get some time off the road at last.

Or not.

Vince McMahon called him up for commentary duties on Raw in the interim. Punk sighed, went to work and was horrified to hear McMahon roaring at him over the headset. There's a funny moment on the pod when he tells Renée that he elbowed Jerry Lawler, then wrote the 'King' a note asking where the volume dial was.

Punk turned Vince down completely so he couldn't get yelled at, and he thinks more announcers should do the same. He doesn't know how guys like Michael Cole and others can concentrate on the match in front of them when McMahon is screaming his head off.
