10 Things We Learned From Cody Rhodes On Out Of Character

8. How He’d Describe Today’s AEW

Cody hasn't suddenly decided he hates All Elite Wrestling.

He's genuinely happy that there's another major promotion for guys and girls to work for, but the way he laid out his thoughts on what AEW is in 2022 was very interesting. Rhodes called the promotion "an adolescent that's not my baby anymore", but he still looks at himself as "one of the proud parents".

It's almost like he thinks AEW started to grow arms and legs before anyone was really prepared for that. There wasn't an incredible amount of focus put on this during the podcast (presumably because this interview was on the WWE On Fox YouTube account), but it was a fascinating portion of the chat.

Tony Khan's organisation has become the most viable competitor to Vince McMahon's WWE on the market. That's not something Cody denied. He put the spotlight on the actual wrestlers themselves, and how having multiple options should always be considered a plus.
