1. Felt He Was “Overly Generous” In AEW

Arn Anderson repeatedly told Cody to "get some for you" backstage at AEW. Rhodes knew what he was saying, but was also so focused on being EVP and helping to build the company away from the ring. That led him to be "overly generous" when he was actually wrestling.

He regrets that.

Cody wasn't just worried about what the fans might think if he pushed himself to the moon though. He'd watched Dusty get heat backstage with the roster in WCW; there'd been a perception from some that the 'American Dream' was being selfish whenever he booked himself on top.

That ran through Cody's mind when he was thrashing out his programs and angles during AEW creative meetings. Unfortunately, a willingness to put everybody else first caused him to take an eye off the ball and put others ahead even when they didn't necessarily deserve it.
