10 Things We Learned From Daniel Bryan On Talk Is Jericho

1. Bryan Didn't Know Y2J Was WWE's 'Mania Backup Plan

That was news to Daniel Bryan.

Bryan had a hunch that Jericho might be the preferred backup if Shane couldn't work. At the same time, Shane had called him from hospital to allay fears that he'd be posted missing come New Orleans. That put Bryan's mind at rest; he trusted that Shane would be there and thus put thoughts of a replacement out of his mind.

Meanwhile, Vince McMahon was frantically searching for a substitute on the off chance his son couldn't physically work the tag match. This all happened behind the scenes, and Daniel claimed he wasn't privy to conversations between Vince and Jericho at the time.

In fairness to WWE, they were only concerned with getting the match in the ring. The real story was Daniel Bryan's return anyway, so it wouldn't have dampened things had Y2J replaced Shane. Still, Bryan was none the wiser about the drama until Jericho opened up on his podcast.
