10 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: Brian Pillman

Eric Bischoff views things differently. He claims that he let Pillman out of his WCW contract "with a wink and a nod", and that he told Brian to go off to the WWF, make more money and then come back to WCW. Bisch said this was a plan to ensure Pillman got paid what he was worth.

Literally nobody else involved in Dark Side Of The Ring buys that. Kim Wood shot the notion down, and Jim Cornette believes Eric just won't admit that he got worked by one of the most outlandish schemes in pro wrestling history. The whole thing is a psychologist's dream, or nightmare (depending how you look at it!).

It's gripping stuff though.

Eventually, Wood says that Brian never actually planned to go to the WWF at all. His idea was to use Vince McMahon's might against Bischoff so that WCW would stump up enough cash to keep him around. According to Kim, Pillman favoured WCW's wrestling style over the WWF's.
