Then, somehow, things got worse.

This is a famous story amongst WCW hardcores, but it's worth retelling. Norton whined over the phone to his wife in his hotel room, and told her that he didn't like being in North Korea. Seconds later, the line suddenly went dead and someone knocked on Scott's room door. He'd have been forgiven for sh*tting bricks at that point.

An official told Norton to follow them, and he was led into another room full of armed guards. They told him to sit, then another Korean higher-up strolled in to remind the burly muscle man that he wasn't to say anything bad about the country because it was superior in every way to North America. Likely fearing the worst, Scott had no choice but to nod along.

Sonny Onoo, who also worried about how he'd be received when the WCW contingent landed, thinks Antonio Inoki had to pull some strings to smooth things over for Norton. Big Scott could've been toast again for talking bad about North Korea to his wife.
