10 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: Dynamite Kid

1. Foley’s Poignant Parting Shot

Trust Mick Foley to sum things up better than anyone.

There's something eerie about the way Mick looked into VICE's cameras and said, “You become the biggest star you can imagine, and you pay for it the rest of your life” right at the end of the doc. That's incredibly deep, and it does relate to Foley's own life and career too.

He took some major risks throughout his in-ring run, and they altered his body forever. The man lives with constant aches and pains, so Mick can empathise with some of what Dynamite was going through. Of course, Tom Billington's experiences were more extreme (he was wheelchair bound), but Mick wasn't trying to piggy-back on anyone's misery here.

Instead, he was brilliantly pointing out that someone chases fame by any means necessary and then pays a heavy cost for that pursuit on the way back down. Man, somebody should tell Foley to start writing books or something. Ahem.
