9. Even His Friends Doubt Marty’s Stories
It's actually just as well McCluskey was the one who discussed Marty's pain, because even some of his best friends would've believe it's "a 12" if he told them. One of Jannetty's good mates, Karen Walker, outright says: "You can't believe 99% of what Marty is talking about".
She's known him for over 40 years, and freely admits his stories are likely fabricated for effect. That's something worth keeping in mind throughout 'Dark Side', 'cause even some others like Brutus Beefcake seem to get sucked into fantasy land when it suits. Perhaps that's just something the pro wrestling biz (especially in the 1980s/90s) encouraged.
