10 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: Marty Jannetty

8. “God’s Amusement Toy”

This feels like a catch-all excuse.

Marty often referred/refers to himself as the “GAT”. What does that mean? Same as the sub-heading. Jannetty calls himself "God's Amusement Toy", which is his way of rationalising some of his own strange behaviour over the years. Even Al Snow scoffed and said it’s Marty’s way of ignoring personal responsibility for things.

Several other talking heads call Marty his own worst enemy too. It's an interesting, if bizarre, nickname to give yourself, that's for sure. Another ex-wrestler, 'Mean' Mike Moran (who has known Jannetty since the early territory days) chimed in to say his old peer has a nasty habit of hanging around strippers who use drugs.

Then, Mike admitted he's often done the same, but won't complain when it gets him into trouble. Apparently, Marty's "GAT" nickname is some delusional justification for anything bad that happens in his life, and delusion was a theme of the episode.
