This is a strange one, and your writer isn't sure if it's common knowledge.

According to Paul Ellering, Animal would often make up stories about how The Road Warriors were part of the He-Man universe. That's where Ellering believes he got the idea for the 'Legion Of Doom' name from (one that'd go on to become their proper tag name in the WWF).

It's also worth noting that the 'Legion Of Doom' are a group of super villains in DC's Justice League too. Most wrestling fans probably thought LOD emanated from that, or was at least inspired by the dark acts of Bizarro, Lex Luthor and more. Not so, says Ellering - it was He-Man's 'Masters Of The Universe'.

Skeletor, the main baddie in He-Man, did have a 'Disks Of Doom' form in one of the cartoon's series, so maybe it had something to do with that. Yours truly feels robbed that Animal didn't work a He-Man gimmick when Hawk left the WWF in 1992.
