10 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: WCW Bash At The Beach 2000

2. It Might’ve Been Fine Without THAT Promo

Most of the bad blood hinged on this brain-melting Russo moment.

He went back out in front of fans once Hogan and Bischoff had left the building at Bash, then tore into Hulk by calling him a “big, bald son of a bitch”. Russo also promised fans would “never see that piece of sh*t again”. This was...ill-advised at best and downright stupid at worst.

Hogan and Bisch didn’t find out about any of this until later the same night, and Hulk wasn’t happy with Russo. Apparently, he and Eric believed things had gone well (?!) earlier in the night when Jarrett lay down for Hogan and Hulk left with the World Title. Take a moment to let that sink in.

Regardless, Russo storming out with a shoot promo for the ages caused huge problems on the legal side. That one segment was why Hulk filed a defamation lawsuit, and it's why he'd never work for WCW again before the company vanished in early-2001.
