10 Things We Learned From Diamond Dallas Page On The Steve Austin Show

8. The Back Injury

Page says that at the height of his career in late 1998 he blew his back out. He had just signed a three-year deal with WCW, stating that prior to that contract he had never made any real money in the business. Leading up that contract he was in 13 of 24 main event matches on pay-per-views making "only" $275,000 per year, which he adds is a lot of money but not compared to what his contemporaries in the company were making. Dallas says that he signed with TNT executive Harvey Schiller rather than his close friend Eric Bischoff, who was always reluctant to pay him handsomely due to it being perceived as favoritism. Once he signed his deal he suffered the back injury and three different specialists told him his career was over.
