After telling his excited wife about the possible move to Stamford, Bischoff began weighing up what he wanted from a job with WWE. Specifically, he wanted to evaluate what he could contribute at that stage in his life. Eric looked at the project as a two-three year gig (max), and wasn't going to sell his house in Wyoming or anything like that.

He took the bare minimum to Stamford.

The Bischoff family looked at the experience like an adventure more than something that'd dominate the rest of Eric's life. That passage of the pod hints that he knows the WWE system far better than he was ever willing to let on throughout the episode; Bischoff's no fool, and knows full well that Vince changes his mind often.

Eric wanted to establish what his concrete role would be from day one. That was important to him, because he knew he wasn't going to be the kind of guy to sit around a desk at creative meetings and write episodes of TV from scratch.
