10 Things We Learned From Goldberg On Edge & Christian's Podcast

4. WWE Limited His Previous Matches

It’s best to take everything that Goldberg said during his appearance on Edge and Christian’s show with a pinch of salt. His POV is one-sided, and while E&C made for engaging hosts, it wasn’t their job to challenge the Universal Champion or put him on the spot. A hint of scepticism was therefore essential to maintain balance, and while most of what Goldberg said seemed believable, some of his points were a little far-fetched.

The most obvious example of this came during his WrestleMania 33 preview, and comparing the forthcoming Lesnar match to his other recent bouts. Having wrestled for little over six minutes since returning, Goldberg stated that this wasn’t down to his ailing physical condition or in-ring deficiencies, but because of constraints placed upon him by WWE with the aim of building anticipation for Orlando.

What Goldberg was saying is that if he was allowed to perform the way he wanted, there’d be no talk of short matches and limited movesets. There might be an element of truth to this, but considering the guy can barely make it to the ring without breaking a sweat, it feels like a huge reach.
