10 Things We Learned From Goldberg On Stone Cold's Sessions Podcast

10. He Might've Quit Without Sarge

WCW Power Plant Goldberg
WWE

Back when Goldberg first broke into the wrestling business, he had a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Injuries had made his long-held NFL dreams impossible, and his accountant advised he find something else to do with his life. A little lost, Bill stumbled into pro wrestling and started training at WCW's Power Plant.

He wouldn't have stayed without the coarseness of one man.

Sgt Buddy Lee Parker was responsible for keeping that fire inside Goldberg alight. Had Parker not been a chief trainer at the Power Plant, Bill admits he would've probably packed it in; it wasn't that the training was too hard, it was almost too easy, and Goldberg found it hard to respect some of the other trainers.

He knew he could chew through their workload, but Sarge was different. Parker pushed Goldberg like the sportsman-turned-wrestling hopeful wanted to be pushed, and he kept things interesting enough that Bill decided to stick around.
