8. Eric Bischoff Told Him Never To Climb The Ropes

Goldberg took a ticking from Eric Bischoff just a handful of matches into his WCW career.

After beating The Barbarian (to go 2-0 on TV) on the 29 September 1997 episode of Nitro, Bill returned to the locker room feeling pretty good about how the match had gone. At one point, he and Barb had successfully pulled off a top-rope Belly-To-Belly spot that showed off Goldberg's athleticism.

Bischoff wasn't happy about that. He raced up to Bill backstage, wagged a finger in his new rookie's face and told him never to do anything like that again. When Goldberg tried to explain, Eric repeated that he didn't want to see Bill going up high or really anywhere near the top two turnbuckles at all.

In his defence, Goldberg was only trying to follow The Barbarian's lead. Bill knew he wasn't in any position to lead a match, so he let the more experienced worker call everything and just went along with it. Bischoff was p*ssed when he saw the top rope move.
