10 Things We Learned From Hulk Hogan On Talk Is Jericho (Part 2)

11. The First WrestleMania

Wrestlemania 1 After some brief talk about who came with Hogan to WWE when he jumped from the AWA (Heenan, Mean Gene, Dr. D, etc) and Vince's inner circle, which at that time consisted of mainly Hulk, Pat Patterson and Jim Barnett, Jericho asks about the concept behind the inaugural WrestleMania event. Hulkster says during that period he couldn't see the forest through the trees, being solely focused on his role in the show and not grasping Vince's overall vision. He worried that his dominance over his opponents would cause the fans to lose interest and supposedly argued to put people over once in a while to keep the crowds coming back. While he does claim ownership of several ideas that would help kickstart the WWE's success, such as entrance music and hooking up the Cyndi Lauper deal, Hulk gives all the credit to Vince for coming up with the idea of WrestleMania. This was a nice touch of humility for a man who is teased about showing very little of it.
