10 Things We Learned From Hulk Hogan's WCW Contract
9. The PPV Payoffs
On signing his WCW contract, the Hulkster got a $2 million dollar signing bonus. The payoffs were structured so that Hogan would perform on six pay per views a year, with $675,000 for each show. Either that, or 15% of domestic PPV cable sales received by WCW for each event, it was down to whatever was greater. That means Hogan was earning an extraordinary $4.05 million a year just from pay per view shows. He was advanced on this, with $1.35 million every four months. That's why WCW consistently had to book him as a main eventer. Quite simply, when you pay someone top dollar, you have to book them as top of the bill in hopes of making the money back.
