10 Things We Learned From Inside The Ropes With Paul Heyman (Glasgow)
6. Other 'Paul Heyman Guys' Were Only Put With Him So Heyman Could Remain On TV
Remember when Paul Heyman started branching out and managing the likes of Cesaro, Ryback and Curtis Axel on a week-to-week basis in WWE? It seemed like those in charge believed Heyman to have the 'Midas Touch', meaning absolutely anything he was handed would immediately turn to complete gold.
In the long term, it didn't really work out. Representing talent other than Brock Lesnar may have seemed like a good idea at the time, but the likes of Axel, Ryback and Cesaro certainly lived in Lesnar's shadow. That was an unshakable feeling whenever they were on screen, and Heyman wasn't a huge fan either.
During the Q&A show in Glasgow, the veteran personality said that he was only put with these men so that he could continue appearing on television each week to talk about Brock Lesnar. It was really as simple as that, Vince McMahon wanted some sort of Lesnar presence on his show each week, but it didn't really do any favours for those chosen for the 'filler' roles.
