10 Things We Learned From Inside The Ropes With Paul Heyman (London)
9. Learning From Jim Ross In WCW
Heyman is asked about the current commentary setup (he's not a fan since, in his mind, it's gotten away from the basic concept of a selling something to the audience at home) and how he found doing commentary in WCW in the early 90s.
Paul said it was relatively easy because 1. he likes to talk and 2. he was learning from Jim Ross, who he calls the greatest talker in the history of the business. No, not The Rock or Stone Cold Steve Austin or any other noted promo maestro, but good 'ol JR.
Heyman said that while some may have to get across two or three points for a short period of time, Ross had to get everything over, sometimes for three and four hours and he did it as well as anyone ever has.
The two would meet again behind the commentary desk in 2001, which would lead to a funny story later in the show...
