McMahon and Zayn have moved on a little since Vince was dismissing Sami's well wishes. It's the boss who made sure that Zayn didn't change a thing about his act upon turning heel at Hell In A Cell last year. You read that right, Vince was the responsible for Sami's character maintaining a sense of humour and fun.

Zayn was all prepared to debut a new gimmick that would be darker than before and reflect the fact he had turned on the fans to help Kevin Owens beat Shane McMahon. Vince disagreed that Sami should change much at all, and even ensured he kept the hat, the goofy dance moves and the smile.

It wasn't long after this that Sami and a few members of WWE creative realised that this is probably because McMahon found Zayn's act annoying in the first place. Though hesitant to keep up his happy outlook, Sami realised Vince was right when he tried it on the SmackDown after HIAC.
