10 Things We Learned From Kurt Angle: Homecoming

8. The Emotions Are Real

Angle is clearly nervous as he arrives at WWE, not quite sure how to hold himself or what to do once he's walked into the iconic building he once knew so well. It's Stephanie he bumps into first. It's a little awkward, the presence of the cameras amplifying an already heightened moment for the pair. Kurt babbles but admits later he was pleased Stephanie was there to break the ice. At this point he is clearly apprehensive about the main meeting he'll be having with her father later. We briefly see them discussing their kids.

Kurt finds his way into Triple H's office next. Hunter is warm and easy, quickly taking Kurt to see the boss, Vince McMahon. On their way to head office, it's obvious to the viewer that the two wrestlers share a strong bond. They talk about NXT and Matt Bloom, better known to many WWE fans as Prince Albert/Lord Tensai, who is now Head Coach at the developmental centre.

Last but certainly not least, Kurt visits Vince. The emotion is palpable and McMahon quickly asks that the film crew leave the room. We get to see them embrace in a bear hug before we're ushered away. Kurt then explains to camera that they embraced for a long time. Emotions overcome him and he takes a moment to compose himself. Vince was a father figure for Kurt and it's clear that the love between the two is real. Kurt ends the segment by saying he's glad to be back home.
