Around that time, Mark began reading interviews with various strongmen in issues of Muscle & Fitness magazine. He was shocked when some said that he wasn't a 'real strongman', and realised he needed to do something about it. Quietly, he arranged a meeting with McMahon and told the WWE boss he had to prove these people wrong.

Vince said failure was not an option.

"There's no room here for the second strongest man in the world", he told a nodding Henry. The ex-Olympian understood that kind of logic and told McMahon he wouldn't rest until egg was on the offending faces of those who had called him out. That's when he started training as a powerlifter all over again.

Had Henry failed to prove himself to those dissing his work, he wouldn't have landed back on WWE television in 2002. Vince was pretty much telling Mark that he'd be fired if he dared to come up short in his bid to validate the 'World's Strongest Man' moniker.
