Mark Henry cut a career-best promo on the 17 June 2013 episode of Raw that teased fans emotionally one minute and left them breathless the next. Decked out in a friendly pink suit jacket, Mark claimed that he planned to retire from the ring before blasting John Cena with a World's Strongest Slam and becoming his next challenger.

It was powerful stuff, but things almost happened rather differently.

A few weeks before, Mark had walked into Vince McMahon's office and told him how he missed being home, how his kids cried when he left and how he believed the time was right to walk away. Literally 10 minutes later, Henry strolled out of McMahon's room with a new five year contract.

This is something Mark laughs about on the Network. He can see the silliness of it all, and the fact that Vince is a master manipulator who doesn't like letting talent go before he thinks they should leave.
