After running in on the WrestleMania XXIV main event between Edge and The Undertaker, Zack Ryder's mind ran wilder than the 'Hulkamania' t-shirts he owned as a kid. He tricked himself into thinking that their career trajectory would always skyrocket, and really believed 'Mania XXV would be even more special.

Bless him.

Zack admitted on 'Talk Is Jericho' that he visualised a Triple Threat match pitting Edge vs. Zack Ryder vs. Curt Hawkins for the 25th Anniversary show. That...didn't happen. Instead, Hawkins and Ryder worked as lumberjacks for a pre-show tag-team match - The Miz and John Morrison vs. The Colóns. A bit of a drop in stature then.

Obviously, Ryder was being a little fanciful with his pipe dreams, but Hawkins backed him up by saying they had mentally normalised WWE success. The Edgeheads didn't think their time in the sun would ever end. Why would they? They were working top stars on the road every night and learning all the time.
