After winning the WWF Title for the first time on a taped Raw in late December 1998 (which aired on 4 January '99), Mick dropped the belt back to The Rock in a gritty 'I Quit' match at the Royal Rumble. Two nights later, the company taped a brawl between both men for 'Halftime Heat' during Super Bowl XXXIII.

Foley couldn't believe it when Vince told him he'd be bagging the title again - he told his confused boss that this maybe wasn't his greatest idea. Rocky was similarly baffled when Mick questioned the creative direction. The sudden title switch didn't make sense to Foley after that dramatic (and chair-shot-heavy) Rumble match.

McMahon had made up his mind though, so they ultimately went with it.

Mick was frosty on winning the strap for a second time right up until they started filming. By that point, it was too late to talk Vince out of the landmark moment, and he'd started to get invested in the halftime shenanigans by then anyway.
